SECURING THE BLESSINGS OF LIBERTY:
Pre-K through High School Program Schedule, 2024-2025
Our young people cannot safeguard what they do not cherish. And they cannot cherish what they do not know.
As a teacher, you play a very important role in the lives of your students. Take them on one of the most important field trips they may ever experience. Coming to the American Village is a great adventure! Students are stepping into an immersive experience that is impactful, engaging, inspiring,…and FUN! A great value at only $10/student!
We invite you and your students to experience the stories of America’s journey for independence, liberty and self-government. Step into the scene and experience the risks, uncertainties, and dramatic events as they unfolded during America’s revolutionary decision to declare its independence. The American Village offers an opportunity for your students to become active participants in “Securing the Blessings of Liberty” and leave with a better foundation for good citizenship.
More than a field trip, the American Village educational programs are tied directly to objectives in state courses of study in history, citizenship (civics) and government, as well as graduation standards. Students from every grade level benefit as they participate in experiential learning.
Unique in its mission to strengthen and renew the foundations of American liberty and self-government through citizenship education, the American Village is an educational experience like no other!
LIVING AMERICA’S STORY – CHRISTMAS
December 16-19, 2024
Get into the spirit of Christmas as you enjoy a rendition of T’was the Night Before Christmas performed by the author and a special furry guest. Join a dance lesson from Martha Washington, and play 18th Century games.
LIVING AMERICA’S STORY – PRESIDENTS
February 10-14, 18-21, 24-28, 2025
Meet President George Washington, King George, and get ready to play the game show, “Choose Your George”. Students will also put together a puzzle of Lincoln’s life story and develop a greater understanding of what it is like to be the President of the United States of America as they learn about the many duties and “hats” the President wears. Students participate in a variety of activities and games tied directly to traditions begun by presidents and first ladies.
Students may dress like their favorite President or First Lady.
LIVING AMERICA’S STORY – PATRIOTS
April 1-4, 7-11, 2025
Young colonists take action! Be brave and muster your courage to be engaged to help our country on the “Road to Revolution.” You may be asked to row across the Charles River or ride with Paul Revere to warn the colonists that the British are coming. There could be a “tea party” in Boston and patriots may even become “spies” as they relay secret messages.
Students are encouraged to wear mob caps and tricorn hats.

An opening play takes place just outside the Courthouse. Students then travel to the West Wing of Independence Hall, where they are transported back to revolutionary Boston on the eve of Paul Revere’s ride. From the foyer, students move into the multi-sensory theatre, where they see an original film that takes then on a journey from Paul Revere’s ride to the battles at Lexington and Concord, to the Continental Congress, and ultimately the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
In addition to the experiences in the West Wing of Independence Hall, students take part in the Yorktown Encampment, learn about medical practices in the Continental Army, attend the 5th Virginia Convention and argue for independence, meet the Sons of Liberty and carry a secret message vital to the patriots’ cause.

Independence! is aligned with Alabama Course of Study standards and supplements regular classroom instruction intended to meet those standards. It is the best choice of programming for students in grades four through twelve, apart from special programs designed for and targeted to more specific topics and age groups from time to time. The program is consistent in subject matter for all grades, appealing to a broad spectrum of students and attending to multiple, active learning styles; however, delivery is differentiated for varying age groupings.
Content understanding is differentiated on the basis of vocabulary and concept difficulty. Modifications are made in the use of authentic language, use of examples and analogies, use of visual and auditory support, degree of presentation detail, connection to accessible and relevant student background and experience, connection to previous classroom instruction, and in pacing. The program also seeks to evoke a sense of ownership and stewardship of the principles of liberty and self-government. In this regard, program delivery is differentiated on the basis of age, maturity level and civic experience. Students will participate in the struggle for American independence and the continuing journey to fulfill the promises of liberty and equality. It is a compelling story, and your students are a part of it!
